About the Department
In the Department of Computers and Instructional Technology Education, a comprehensive curriculum covering knowledge and skills necessary for students to be trained as good educational technologists and teachers is being implemented. In this program, prospective teachers are informed about how information technologies can be used in teaching and learning processes. Current practice in companies and internships carried out under the supervision of lecturers in schools ensure training of teacher candidates to be able to solve their performance problems and to design, develop and evaluate their training strategies and products. In addition, importance is given to analysis, design, production and project activities. Teacher candidates also become competent about what materials should be developed for the effective use of technological tools such as computers, video, television, and the Internet. Teacher candidates are not only informed about these topics but also have the opportunity to apply them in teaching environments.
Educational Opportunities
In our department, research and practice are given as much importance as lectures. Our students basically learn by doing and living. In this direction, various research and applications related to computers are done. Scientific activities such as conferences, seminars, symposiums and panels are organized periodically to provide important contribution to the development of individuals who have internalized scientific thinking and working style and are productive, creative and independent. Our application laboratories which are appropriate to the technology of our age are open to the use of our students apart from class hours. Our students as individuals living in a globalized world are trained by teaching methods that give them the knowledge and skills about all kinds of devices and materials used in education in order to make them aware of rapid changes in technology and information flow. Students who learn to use information and communication technologies and appropriate materials to be prepared are being trained by using contemporary and applied methods based on the required topics by the teaching profession such as problem based learning, discovery learning, cooperative learning so that they can transfer their learnings to their own students and train them to become useful individuals to the society.

Graduates of the Department of Computers and Instructional Technology Education, can be employed as computer teachers and specialists of computers and instructional technology in elementary and secondary schools, education software development specialists in computer companies, information center manager or supervisor in public or private organizations, education technology measurement and evaluation specialists, education and training technologists, web-based educational designers, computer systems and web designers, multimedia and graphic designers, instructional software development group leader, project manager and network administrator. Besides public schools, they can work in private schools, tutorial schools, universities and distance education centers. Because they are trained as individuals who will conduct research in the field of instructional technology, our graduates can work in teaching technology and material design centers. Since our graduates are trained as individuals who will conduct research in the field of instructional technology, they can also be employed in instructional technology and materials design centers.
